TastelliEmail Marketing Audit
Email Marketing Audit

You don't have an email marketing system. You have a collection of unfinished automations.

Klaviyo is installed and a handful of pieces exist. What's missing is the thing that makes them work: a customer journey designed on purpose. It turns visitors into subscribers, subscribers into customers, and customers into repeat buyers.

01

The customer journey begins at the pop-up. Right now it asks for a lot and offers very little.

The pop-up is the first conversation Tastelli has with a new visitor. Everything downstream, from the welcome to the first purchase and the second, depends on that moment landing.

Today there is a single capture method: one pop-up offering free shipping. In the last month, 2,400 people visited the site, creating 2,400 opportunities to begin a relationship, and the overwhelming majority left anonymously.

Free shipping reads as a logistics perk rather than a reason to join a brand. It gives a first-time visitor no sense of who Tastelli is or what they'd be signing up to hear about.

And the promise isn't kept. The pop-up pushes the contact into Klaviyo, but nothing is ever sent back. There is no code, no confirmation, and no indication the offer is applied at checkout.

This isn't a pop-up problem. It's the first step of a lifecycle that was never designed.

02

The welcome is where a brand is chosen. Right now, it's silence.

The welcome journey is the single highest-attention moment in lifecycle marketing. A new subscriber is curious, interested, and actively deciding whether this brand is worth their inbox. That window is short and it doesn't reopen.

A Welcome Series exists in the account, but it has sat in Draft since it was built. Subscribing currently produces nothing: no confirmation, no offer, and no introduction.

Turning it on wouldn't solve it either. As written, the flow has no personality, no education, and no brand story. It does not explain the product, the sourcing, or the reason Tastelli exists. It reads like generic ecommerce.

Subscribers should feel like they're entering the Tastelli brand, not joining a mailing list.

03

7,000 people already trusted this brand once. Trust fades when nothing follows it.

The account holds roughly 7,000 active profiles. These aren't records in a database. They're people who chose to hear from Tastelli.

Campaign history shows long silences, including an 18-month stretch with no sends at all. Relationships don't hold their shape without contact, they quietly weaken.

Campaigns aren't a volume exercise. They're how a brand stays familiar, useful, and top of mind between purchases. Without them, re-earning attention later costs far more than keeping it would have.

Retention doesn't start when someone lapses. It starts with consistent communication.

04

What exists isn't a lifecycle strategy.

There are automations in the account. Some are inactive. Some are incomplete. Only Abandoned Cart is genuinely live.

More importantly, the flows that do exist are generic. They don't reflect the Tastelli brand, they don't educate the customer, and they don't build trust in the product.

Nothing in the current setup moves a customer naturally toward another purchase. Each message sits on its own instead of forming a sequence with a direction.

Automation isn't valuable simply because it exists. Every email should move the customer forward.

05

Every visitor is an email address and a phone number. Only one is being collected.

There is no SMS capture and no SMS program. It is not on the pop-up, not at checkout, and not anywhere else. A full half of the lifecycle is missing.

SMS isn't a second marketing channel bolted on top of email. It's the immediate layer of the same journey. It is the message that lands in minutes for cart recovery, restocks, launches, and time-bound offers, while email carries the story.

Every one of those 2,400 monthly visitors could be captured on both channels at the same moment, at no additional traffic cost. Today, only one is even asked for.

A lifecycle built on one channel is a lifecycle running at half strength.

The lifecycle gap

Follow a customer through Tastelli and the journey stops before it starts.

Stage 1

Visitor

gap

Should be given a compelling reason to join, on email and SMS

Meets a free-shipping pop-up and usually leaves anonymously

Stage 2

Subscriber

gap

Should be welcomed, told the brand story, and given their offer

Receives nothing at all

Stage 3

First Purchase

gap

Should be thanked, reassured, and educated on the product

Transaction ends the conversation

Stage 4

Repeat Purchase

gap

Should be guided back with cross-sell and replenishment

No path from first order to second

Stage 5

Loyal Customer

gap

Should be identified, segmented and rewarded as a VIP

Treated the same as everyone else

Stage 6

Lapsed Customer

gap

Should be re-engaged before the relationship cools

Leaves quietly, and is expensive to win back

Instead of one broken link, the entire lifecycle is missing.

What it costs

Without a lifecycle, every customer is a one-time customer.

  • 01Every visitor who leaves anonymously is someone you'll probably pay to acquire again.
  • 02Every subscriber who receives nothing has less reason to remember Tastelli when they're ready to buy.
  • 03Every customer who buys once and never hears from you again becomes harder and more expensive to bring back.
  • 04Every loyal customer who goes unrecognised is treated like a stranger by the brand they chose repeatedly.
  • 05The brands that grow aren't the ones constantly chasing new customers. They're the ones with systems that create repeat ones.
The plan

The plan: build a complete customer lifecycle.

Phase 1Foundation

Build the Foundation

  • Strategic pop-up built around an offer worth joining for
  • Email and SMS capture at the same moment
  • Brand-aligned Welcome Journey with story, education and a clear first offer
  • Klaviyo architecture rebuilt properly from the ground up
  • Customer segmentation
  • Branded email templates
Phase 2Recovery

Recover Lost Revenue

  • Browse Abandonment
  • Cart Abandonment
  • Checkout Abandonment
  • Thank You
  • Post Purchase
  • Product Education

Designed to recover existing intent, educate the customer, and turn first purchases into second ones.

Phase 3Retention

Build Retention

  • Cross Sell
  • Winback
  • Replenishment
  • VIP segmentation
  • SMS lifecycle
  • Campaign strategy
  • Reporting and ongoing optimisation

The result isn't a set of switched-on flows. It's a lifecycle marketing engine that works every day without being asked.

Long-term growth

The Growth Roadmap

The goal isn't simply to send better emails. It's to build a customer acquisition and retention system that becomes more valuable as it grows.

Lifecycle marketing is built in stages. Every stage creates the foundation for the next, so growth becomes more predictable rather than relying on constant acquisition.

01

Build the Foundation

Before scaling anything, the customer journey needs to work.

  • Strategic email and SMS capture
  • Brand-aligned Welcome Journey
  • Complete lifecycle automations
  • Customer segmentation
  • Branded templates
  • Campaign strategy
  • Deliverability and tracking

This creates a complete lifecycle marketing engine capable of converting and nurturing every customer automatically.

Before you increase traffic, you need confidence that every visitor is entering a system designed to convert.

02

Build Predictable Recurring Revenue

Once the lifecycle foundation is performing consistently, the focus shifts to increasing customer lifetime value rather than chasing new customers.

  • Designing subscription-first offers
  • Making subscriptions the most valuable and convenient purchase option
  • Educating customers on the benefits of subscribing
  • Using post-purchase and replenishment flows to encourage repeat orders
  • Creating loyalty through convenience rather than discounts

Recurring revenue creates stability because existing customers continue generating revenue without needing to be reacquired.

The strongest ecommerce brands don't rely on customers buying once. They build systems that make buying again the natural next step.

03

Scale Customer Acquisition

Only once the lifecycle is converting efficiently should the focus shift to increasing traffic.

  • Meta advertising
  • Sending qualified traffic into a proven customer journey
  • Giving every additional visitor a structured path toward becoming a repeat customer
  • Scaling confidently because the backend is already optimized

Traffic amplifies whatever system already exists. If the customer journey is weak, more traffic simply creates more lost opportunities. If the lifecycle is strong, every advertising dollar becomes more valuable.

Growth doesn't begin with advertising. It begins with building a customer journey that deserves more traffic.

The cost of waiting

Each month without a lifecycle carries a cost that compounds.

  • 01

Visitors continue to leave anonymously, and will need to be paid for again.

  • 02

Subscribers hear nothing, and the brand slowly fades from memory.

  • 03

One-time customers never make the step to a second purchase.

  • 04

Existing customers drift further away, and become more expensive to recover.

Build the customer journey Tastelli should have had from the beginning.

This isn't about sending more emails. It's about creating a lifecycle that turns visitors into subscribers, subscribers into customers, and customers into loyal advocates through strategic email and SMS marketing.

The next step is a strategy call. We'll walk through this audit together and map the lifecycle marketing engine your brand should be running.
